-
Tuesday 20th February, 12 noon to 4pm, The Lapwing Centre, Lapwing Lane, Brinnington;
-
Thursday 8th March, 3pm to 7pm, The Together Trust Centre, Schools Hill, Cheadle.
Everyone is welcome to attend the sessions. No booking is required and refreshments will be provided.
Councillor Sue Derbyshire, Executive Member for Regeneration at Stockport Council, said: “Over the next 20 years, we will see a major shift in the population age in the UK as a whole and in Stockport. This will see the over 50’s becoming increasingly important, not only in number, but in economic power and their ability to shape the economy.”
Councillor Derbyshire continued: “In Stockport, we believe in giving everybody the opportunity to achieve their dreams and fulfil their potential. The Silver Entrepreneurs project is an excellent way to tap into the knowledge and experience of our mature residents.”
Professor Tom Cannon from Ideopolis, who developed the Silver Entrepreneurs initiative, said: “People are now living longer, staying healthier and, in many cases, seeking new outlets for their energies. This is an important initiative for Stockport Council to give those people the help and encouragement they need to take the first steps to becoming successful entrepreneurs.”
The information sessions include talks from small business experts, start up support, details of where to access business advice and networking opportunities. Further information is available by contacting Silver Entrepreneurs on 0151 708 0875
The information sessions will be followed by one day business start up workshops. These will cover subjects including confidence building, business ideas and cash flow management.
