Ideopolis CEO spoke during Berlin's 'week of innovation'
Professor Tom Cannon, Ideopolis CEO, will be speaking about how inner city science areas can contribute to cities of ideas and drive innovation during 7 days of innovation in Berlin on 10th October 2007. Professor Cannon drew from his current programme of work in this area to discuss how an inner city environment creates a context where science, markets, finance and operations can interact creatively to drive innovation and enterprise.
The University of The Arts Berlin, the Technical University Berlin, Wista Management GmbH (Technology- and Sciencepark Adlershof) and the Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s have joined together to analyse the borough of Berlin Charlottenburg to pin down it’s regional innovation potentials. This Berlin project is part of the EU Pro Inno Europe initiative, with partners at the Öresund region, the Baltic states and the Lombardy.
7 days of innovation in Berlin consisted of a full program of exhibitions, presentations, workshops, guided tours, lasting for a whole week . These presented new ideas and concepts from economics, science, culture and society. The week was inaugurated by an Innovation Day which presented major scientists and speakers. The following days were dedicated to the following themes: Monday – Emerging Technologies, Tuesday – Emerging Cultures, Wednesday – Emerging Industries, Thursday – Creative Industries. The European Network Day was dedicated to ideas of the European partners. One of the main themes of the regional event was urban development .
