Professor Tom Cannon : Chief Executive tom@ideopolis.info

Tom is a former Director of Manchester Business School and has pioneered work on enterprise development. While head of Stirling University Business School he formed the Scottish Enterprise Foundation and created the first Chair in Entrepreneurship in the UK. More recently he was Chief Executive of the Government's Management and Enterprise National Training Organisation - responsible for key aspects of SME development.

His enviable research record resulting in over 100 published papers and books is matched by extensive experience in policy work and consulting for major international companies, central and local government, Regional Development Agencies and NGOs. He has extensive policy experience ranging from national projects such as the New Vision for Business study initiated by the Prime Minister of the UK and the current Merseyside Entrepreneurship Commission.

Tom's areas of interest and expertise also include leadership, especially during times of dynamic change, social entrepreneurship and the emergence of the ideopolis. He is an acknowledge expert on football finance.

Aimee Best : Consultant aimee@ideopolis.info

Aimee coordinates Ideopolis' public relations, media liaison and marketing. In addition she manages a range of projects in the areas of enterprise and cultural transformation. She brings high-level research skills, built up in a management role at Research International, working with a range of partners on diverse market research projects. Aimee also has direct experience as a female entrepreneur. She was, for several years, the owner of a Liverpool based Entertainments Magazine.

Paul Connellan: Associate

Paul is a Sociology graduate and for postgraduate work undertook the Sloan Fellowship Programme at the London Business School. He has worked in many parts of the world including Germany, the USA and five years in the Middle East.

He brings to this project a speciality in the links between CSR, marketing and customer service which is vital to understanding the long term role of CSR in an environment in which rapid change is the norm. He is an associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University in these subjects.

Before moving into consultancy he was Customer Services Director for Manchester Airport with special responsibility for the airport’s community relations programmes during which time it was voted Best Airport in the World. Amongst others he has consulted for Railtrack, Liverpool Airport and the European Union.

Rowan Hoban : Associate

Rowan was one of the first consultants at Ideopolis' birth and now stands as a key associate to the team. Rowan spent three years coordinating the young person's programme at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, planning and managing events and projects and working with a diverse range of partners from schools to LEAs to large corporate sponsors. A graduate of Leeds University, her particular areas of expertise are event management, project management and partnership working, particularly within the primary, secondary and further education sectors.

Tim Dugdill : Consultant

Tim specialises in enterprise, business development and social entrepreneurship. He has a wealth of senior management experience and has run his own business.

For six years, he has been Chairman of a Merseyside Chamber of Commerce and also chairs The Knowsley Economic Forum working towards the economic regeneration of the Borough. As Chairman of The Forum, he sits on the Local Strategic Partnership Executive representing the economy.

Tim represents the private sector on two Government Office panels monitoring EU funding. He also serves on the steering group of  the Merseyside Entrepreneurship Commission, chaired by Professor Phil Redmond.

Tim chairs two local charitable trusts and serves on the Boards of many charitable and voluntary organisations including Age Concern, Princess Royal Trust for Carers, and Merseyside Expanding Horizons.

Tim's most recent project was to create Silver Entrepreneurs, an international organisation to promote, enthuse and assist people over 50 to become self-employed or start a small business.

Fiona Trappe: Associate

Fiona is Chief Executive of BDG, Wales, a business which assists private businesses, social enterprises and public sector organisations with a multitude of business development and sustainability related issues.

Fiona has over 20 years experience in senior sales management and marketing roles.She brings to businesses a powerful combination of sales management and marketing knowledge and practical experience and so ensures that strategic marketing plans are not only right for the business, but are able to be executed at 'ground level' in order to generate sales.
She has a thorough understanding of the strategic economic needs of North Wales and has built a strong regional client base of medium to large businesses across all sectors

 
Fran Cannon : Company Secretary fran@ideopolis.info

Fran's main focus of work for Ideopolis is human resources and financial management. She has worked in Higher Education for a number of years, most recently heading a team of tutors to plan & facilitate a range of Literature courses for mature students.
